USE INSTRUCTIONS OF THE BRACE

The brace has been manufactured in accordance with all technical specifications that apply internationally and has passed technical quality controls in accordance with ISO 9001 quality assurance certification.

Taking the measurements with a 3D SCANNER and precisely processing the mould in a CAD-CAM program give it absolute precision in terms of its application and functionality.

The application tests carried out give it the perfect fit on the body with its current somatometric data. This, however, in case the brace concerns a child, due to his rapid development, may change soon.

  1. HOURS OF APPLICATION and BELT TENSION

The brace should be used ALWAYS and ONLY according to the attending physician’s opinion.

The hours of application also include the hours of night sleep.

Initially, a progressive application will be made from the black stress point (minimum allowable stress point) designed at delivery.

Then in the following days, additional application hours will be added until in about 15-20 days, the full application time is reached and the belts have a tension that touches the red set point. After 20 days the tension will always exceed the red set point. After 20 days the tension will always exceed the red set point.

At mealtime and up to an hour later we can place the tension at the black set point (minimum permissible stress point).

The application time of the brace should be reverently observed.

Daily check the belts, which should always be in tension and in any case more than the red set point.

The brace works during the day of delivery on the particular tension, creating opposite pairs of forces, which press against the predetermined correction points. However, the continuous tension in these points creates inversion and relaxation, resulting in corrective changes in the child’s body. Consequently, greater forces should be exerted on the same points in order to maintain continuity in the brace’s corrective forces. So the tension should be increased daily beyond the red endpoint as long as the belts are always in tension, about half to one millimetre per day depending on the age of the child and the elasticity of the spine.

After a month, a follow-up is carried out where new settings are set.

  1. RECORDING THE HEIGHT and OTHER DATA

On delivery day, height in centimetres, and weight in kilograms are measured accurately and recorded in the user’s file.

The positions of the depressors have been calculated on the day of delivery with precision at the points of the humps but also at the top of the curves and they should always press at the same points. However, this cannot be done if the child gets taller by 2-3 centimetres. If it exceeds 5 cm, then the brace will work in the opposite way, exerting forces that will aggravate the scoliosis.

So the child without the brace should be measured every month. The total height is not particularly important, but the difference in height from the first measurement to the last. The measurement should be taken without shoes on a wall by marking a line with a right triangle at the highest point.

If the child has got taller than 3 cm, you should immediately call us for an adjustment appointment. At this appointment, the child will be accurately measured on our stadiometer and the difference will be calculated. If the difference is indeed 3 cm, the brace will be kept for service and adjustment to his new somatometric data.

If the child has grown more than 3 cm, the application of the brace should be checked immediately. If he exceeds 5 cm in height and if his weight changes by 5 kg or more, the brace will work in the opposite way. The application of the brace should be checked as well as the new somatometric data for the possibility of a new one.

In any case, the approval of the attending physician is required.

  1. PROBLEMS FROM THE APPLICATION OF THE BRACE

The materials the brace is made of are inert and hypoallergenic.

However, the prolonged application may create odour problems from sweat, so it would be good to apply a 100% cotton fitted tank top with a sleeve without side seams.

Daily cleaning of the brace with baby wipes is recommended, as well as daily bathing of the child and then smearing the body with moisturizing body cream.

One of the most serious problems that occur when applying great pressure to the pressure points is redness at the beginning and then if the problem is not corrected, the creation of ulcers, which will trouble the child in the continuation of his treatment. This phenomenon is created when excessive pressure is exerted on a specific point for long period. If you notice that a redness develops, which does not go away after removing the brace from the body and remains for at least an hour, you should visit us and after we have checked the above, we will reform the depressors.

  1. MAINTENANCE OF THE BRACE

From day one and every month you should go over all internal rivets with nail polish. Before the first use of the brace, clean well inside and outside with baby wipes and wipe with a towel. Be careful not to use an air dryer.

Daily cleaning of the brace (thermoplastic and foam) is done with baby wipes.

The tension exerted on the belts can damage them over time. This period varies from case to case. The same will happen with the rivets that hold them to the brace. The same will happen with the rivets that hold them to the brace.

They can be changed immediately without any charge.

The straps are not washed or cleaned. They are replaced free of charge at our center.

Any material of the brace needs replacement; it is done immediately and without charge in our center.

In any case, the brace must be submitted to service and cleaning once every six months.

ATTENTION: X-rays with the brace applied will be performed after you have come (in about a month) to our center first for a check-up.
